Pierre
Talamon is yet another young fashion designer and true movie
fan. Born in 1965, at age twenty, parallel to his film studies
he started looking for vintage clothes of the 50's and 60's
for famous Richard Star's boutique, specialised in gear for
Rock Stars. After obtaining a degree in literature and cinema
he started out professionally as a film producer. At age 25
he switched from the screen to opening his own fashion boutique,
near Saint Sulpice, and presented his first signed collection
of colourful shirts in luxurious fabrics. Next he acquired
a licence in Japan, and then came out with a full collection
of menswear. Cinema, music and street life are his sources
of inspiration. Colour is an important trait and takes its
references from the films of Jacques Demis, or Godard, but
also from the pastel tones of American musicals of the sixties.
His suits are graphically tailored, short jackets, straight
trousers, shirts, and knitwear ties that add a brush point
of technicolor. Among his clients are actors Charles Berling,
Antoine Boursellier, Hyppolite Girardot, Jean Paul Kaufmann
and directors André Téchiné, and Ariel
Wizman. Pierre Talamon has often lent clothes for films and
plays, and distinctly remembers the day Marcello Mastroianni
walked in his shop to buy a set of mauve shirts. After creating
three collections for the international market, Pierre Talamon
proposes a movie star style. His present summer collection
was inspired by Senegalese materials and colours from his
last trip to Africa; tie dyes, for casual wear, batik slacks,
while patchwork or discreet stripes are added to the sides
of colourful bermudas or pants. His tones are lagoon and sky
blues, mauves oranges and pale greens and reds. His winter
collection (2001-2002) is more daring with strong colours,
and patterns, which take us back to the world of jazz and
swinging London years.
